Measure the part everyone skips.

Baseline is carbon accounting infrastructure for African enterprises. We collect primary data from your suppliers, calculate emissions on verified African factors, and produce reporting your auditor, your bank and your European buyer will accept.

Steel is one of the goods Europe now charges carbon on at the border. The emissions are made here, not in a reporting template.

Scope 1 Scope 2 Scope 3 Everything in your supply chain. Usually more than 90% of the total.

You measure what you control.

Scope 1 is your own operations. Scope 2 is the energy you buy. Between them, the part of your footprint you can already put a meter on.

You are accountable for far more.

Scope 3 is everything in your supply chain, and it is routinely more than 90% of the total. It is also the part nobody has data for.

7%

of large companies report all three scopes comprehensively.

Down from 9% in 2024 and 10% in 2023. So most published carbon numbers are a small measured piece bolted onto a very large guess. That is fine until someone asks you to prove it.

What Baseline does

Four things, in the order they have to happen.

Gets data out of your suppliers

Every carbon platform can do arithmetic. Almost none can get a real number out of a supplier who has never been asked for one before. Baseline runs the collection: structured requests, a supplier portal that works on a phone, follow-up, and a quality score on every response so you know which numbers are measured and which are estimated.

This is the part that decides whether the rest is worth anything.

Calculates on African factors

We maintain an emission factor database built for African operating conditions, including national grid factors, local fuels and transport modes. Ghana runs a relatively clean grid. Applying a European default to a Ghanaian plant produces a number that is wrong and expensive.

Reports into the frameworks that matter

GHG Protocol, TCFD, CDP, CSRD and SBTi from one dataset, plus CBAM reporting at installation and CN-code level for exporters into the EU. You enter the data once.

Leaves an audit trail

Every figure traces back to the document, meter reading or invoice it came from, with the factor applied, the version of that factor, and who supplied it. When a verifier asks how you arrived at a number, the answer is a link, not a spreadsheet archaeology project.

The diagram is that same chain as your data currently sees it — a few lit nodes, and a great deal of estimate.

Carbon accounting is accounting

Which is why we built it for the finance team, not the sustainability report.

For CFOs

Emissions reporting is moving steadily out of the sustainability team and into the finance function. If your name goes on the number, you need the same controls, the same traceability and the same review process you would demand of any other figure you sign.

For exporters

Your European buyer now carries a carbon cost on what you send them, settled from 2027 on goods imported from 2026. They are already shopping for suppliers who can hand over verified numbers. What CBAM means for you.

For suppliers

If a large customer has asked you for emissions data and you do not know where to start, Baseline gives you a way to answer without hiring a sustainability team.

Start with one reporting cycle.

We will map your data sources, run a pilot on a defined slice of your supply chain, and show you the gap between what you can measure today and what you are accountable for.
